WHAT TO SEE, WHERE TO GO, WHAT TO DO
CITY AND ITS ARCHITECTURE
SAGRADA FAMILIA
Gaudi's masterpiece and Barcelona's landmark, this breath-taking cathedral must be experienced first-hand.
LAS RAMBLAS
The most famous street of Barcelona, the colorful and festive Ramblas, will fill and lift your spirit. Be mindful of street robbers and expensive tourist bars.
LA PEDRERA
Also known as Casa Mila, an impressive sight.
CASA BATLLO
Another one of Gaudi's most known works.
MAGIC FOUNTAIN
An amazing fountain, on Plaza Espana, that dances in the rhythm of the music and light. Hard to describe with words. A must see.
PARC GUELL
Definitely a unique place in the world, with great panoramic views of the city. You can also visit Gaudi's house there.
CULTURE
PICASSO MUSEUM Exhibits the most extensive collection of the artist's work, especially from his early periods.
JOAN MIRO FOUNDATIONA modernist homeage to Miro's work in Montjuic.
LA CORRIDA If you have the stomach for it, remember that bull-fights always take place on Sunday afternoons. It's not always easy to get tickets, so plan ahead. Close to Sagrada Familia. Metro station: Monumental.
DALI MUSEUM IN FIGUERRASAbout 2hrs train ride from the city, but worth every second of the journey, even if you're not a great Dali fan. The museum itself is a unique piece of surrealist art.
NIGHT LIFE
POBLE ESPANYOLWorth visiting during the day as well, when you can - in just 2 hours - see the diversity of architectural styles from villages all over Spain. At night, Poble Espanyol has a special program, restaurants, clubs, cabarets, etc.
BARRIO GOTICOThis neighbourhood is lively day and night. There is always something going on. A lot of restaurants, bars, clubs, live music, etc.
GAY CLUBS For an excellent resource on gay and lesbian places, we recommend interactive guide for Barcelona and Sitges at StayGayBarcelona.net.
FUN STUFF (THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH CHILDREN)
THE ZOO Barcelona Zoo is worth seeing for many reasons, but the most famous one is surely an albino gorilla named Snowflake.
PARC CIUTADELLAJust beside the Zoo, so you might consider visiting both places in one day. This is a great picnic place, especially fun on the weekends; green grass and a small lake. You can rent a row-boat, a bicycle, or visit the magical botanical garden.
AQUARIUMA lot of fun and very educational.
TIBIDABO AMUSEMENT PARKKids will enjoy the rides, and you will love the panoramic views of the city.
